The original plan called for a 120-miler last weekend (week 5). Unfortunately, the office had other plans for my weekend and I found myself working 12-hour days, eating Chinese takeout food, drinking too much coffee by day, and a few extra beers to undo the damage at night. This is not quite how I expected to raise my level for fitness to that required for long days in the Alpes and the Pyrenees. I feel like a human form, molded out of butter, and awake only because I just gulped down last night's cold, stale coffee. I would write more to describe this feeling, but I have to go back to the office now.
